Jake Williams - #73 Sprint car
On the ice in Moultonboro - 01/16/11

Jake is the 16-year-old son of Lance and Jill (Berry) Williams. Racing is in this young man's blood and in 2011 he will be running for a 600cc mini-sprint champsionship and will make his debut in the ranks of the "methanol-drinking, mud-throwing, fire-breathing, winged monster" sprint cars.

On Saturday, brother Dave and I ventured to Center Ossipee, NH to visit the Williams’ Family race shop. I hang out in several race shops and it came as no surprise to find a group of very nice people actively participating in a family oriented, grass roots, racing operation.

Jake was quiet to the extreme, apparently happy to let his driving skills do the talking. On the other hand, family and friends were quick to praise this young man. After being there for an hour I felt a tug on my elbow. An Uncle leaned toward me and whispered, “He’s a hell of a good kid!”

It's a family affair.

2009 Sprint Car Champion Tunk Berry brings years of racing experience to the team. Tunk is not only family, he's a coach and a big Jake fan.
